I know it's selfish for me to keep being so self-centred and keep talking about myself. But I miss my cat :( a lot. I don't even know if I still like my cat. I just keep thinking we're supposed to be together. And then I feel like I really miss catcatcatcat. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

This is an excerpt from a journal article on the desire for interpersonal relationships. Kinda reminded me of when i was in secondary school and i had friends who formed pseudo-families that extended beyond our classrooms. (okayy i was part of it too, i was the ahma :\) quite interesting leh. someone should explore this in a film. Several studies have found that female prisoners commonly form substitute families based on imaginary kinship ties with other prisoners (Burkhart, 1973; Giallombardo, 1966; Toch, 1975). Some pseudomarital bonds appear to involve voluntary homosexuality, which is typically renounced on leaving the prison (Burkhart, 1973). In some cases, these pseudofamilies become quite extensive and complex, with many women playing parts of parent, child, husband, wife, grandparent, and other roles for each other. These patterns appear to be simply an adaptation to prison life based on the desire to experience romantic and family-style belongingness during the time one is deprived of contact with the usual relationship partners.
on another note, this paper was actually discussing about satiability and substitutability of interpersonal relationships. a brief example on satiability was on about how people in romantic relationships drift away from their friends because the romantic love was enough to feed their need to belong. substitutability on the other hand.
hms.
Substitutability patterns were suggested in a very different way by Rusbult, Zembrodt, and Gunn (1982; see also Rusbult, 1980). They suggested that people remain in their close relationships for several reasons, and one important factor is the availability of desirable alternative potential partners. In other words, people are more likely to leave an intimate relationship if they have some prospect of forming another intimate relationship with someone else soon.

ergh. i can't believe i'm feeling sian just because I watched a stupid korean serial episode which is basically about this asshole who was cheating on his wife with his old flame. the wife who had her suspicions for a while tailed him to their getaway resort, confirmed her suspicions and subsequently confronted them. But then that asshole was saved by the most opportune visit from his HOD (because he was a professor at a local uni), and he effing made his wife kneel down before the bitch to apologise to her for 'insulting' her.
ergh. this kinda rubbish. wah lao i am frustrated to death. i am already feeling so bummed out, and seeing the smirk on that asshole's face makes me feel so damn sick. and i'm not usually the kind who gets so affected by korean dramas that i don't actually follow. damn freaking sickening!!!!!!!!!
anyhow, week 13 heralds a week to begin transforming something resembling a muggertron.
and there's so many things i want to say, but i can't and it makes me feel nauseous. i don't need beer, i need shots. again. tonight. monday is really blue.

Thinks it's amusing how when I ask if I should exercise and guy friends would say sex burns calories. I heard the theory over and over since secondary school. Well, I don't doubt that. But I think running burns more!! Stop trying to bluff me. Roar! I not that naive!! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone
