OCTOGRAM PRESS SCKX. BOYCOTT PLEASE.
If any of you went for Arts Bash 09, and remember receiving the goodie bag in a nicely printed GLEEBERRY envelope.

Octogram Press
bloody fcking gave Ellen a huge problem when they couldn't hand the deliverables on time. fcking assholes had the fcking cheek to say it's not their problem. Ell told me about it but I think she was so tired from fighting with them that she didn't give any details. I just read about it on her blog and it really made my blood boil. Just read it.. And please for your own sake, don't ever use their company for anything in the future. Octogram very easy to rmb. Damn many sides, and all useless. You can help us by just remembering how bloody lousy they are, and even better if you wanna sprea the word. Thank you. Esp cos my blog ain't searchable, so even though I blog about it it's gonna be pretty useless in sending any messages out.

From Ellen's Blog:

And, this I must name. Octogram Press is a printing company who has the contract for providing letterheads and printing official collateral for NUS. Got their details from a colleague as I heard that they would be more affordable than others. But what I didn't know was that their sales manager, Hon Kee, had a freaking bad attitude. And when I called up the boss to lodge a complaint, and guess what I learnt - where this Hon Kee got his attitude from.

WTF. Seriously.

I needed this printing job to be done (which was last Friday, 14 August btw.) I contacted them exactly one week before, yes it was a Friday, to ask if it was possible for this job to be completed and delivered in a week, and HK confirmed that he can. So then correspondence ensued through email and he was freaking slow in getting back to me. I had asked him twice over email whether Friday deadline could be met on Monday and Tuesday respectively, and he never answered this question when he answered the rest of the questions in the same emails.

When artwork was finalised on Tuesday as he mentioned the changes needed, in a frequency like trickling water *cue rolling eyes* , I emailed him again, this time a ONE-LINER, could the job be completed on Friday? Again, no answer, not even a single ounce of acknowledgement by email, sms, or a call.

Thursday afternoon, 4.30pm. I called him to ask for confirmation. He said he couldn't start work on it yet as he needed to make some adjustments to some placement of designs on the flap of an envelope, as dimensions I provided in the template was different from the envelopes that he had bought.

Me: Oh, so you haven't started work on it yet ah?
HK: No leh, I need some time to make the adjustments.
Me: So, can I get it by tomorrow 2pm, delivered?
HK: No, I can't. How about Monday?
Me: Cannot leh, my side needs it by Friday, 6pm latest. How?
HK: But you need to give me some time to do the adjustment and printing right?
Me: But you said you could deliver by Friday when I asked you last week.
HK: The artwork is only just finalised, I need some time to make the adjustments.
Me: It was finalised 2 days ago. You never answered any of my confirmation emails about the deadline this Friday right. Why didn't you tell me that you can't make it?
HK: Is it? I think I could have missed it lah, I don't read email in detail all the time.
Me: OH. I sent you 3 times leh. The last time was on Tuesday, just one line.
HK: ... *cue unsure pause* I could have missed it lah. Anyway, I can't do it for you by tmr.
Me: Then how? I need them.
HK: AIYAH I DUNNO LAH. YOU GO FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT FOR YOU.

.
.
.
.

WAHHH THE CHEEK OF HIM! I was so angry that I hung up.

When I cooled down at 5pm. I called him again to ask for explanation. But he didn't pick up his phone. I had to call the office, and I found out from the poor receptionist that everyone had left the office. I said she was 'poor' because I basically grilled her on a skewer about what to do, why her colleague like that, what's the boss' name, and what to do now. Of course she wouldn't know anything other than who the boss is.

So I had to find someone else. And who else but Goh Brothers. Yes they could get it done and delivered, but it was $50 more expensive.

So the next day, on Friday morning. I called up the Octogram Press office again. This time I asked for Steven Chua, the boss that the receptionist told me about. I had to get him on his mobile cos he was out. And again. The freaking same attitude.

Me: Hi, I' m calling from NUS. I want to complain about your sales manager. He caused me a lot of trouble by backing out of the job that he promised to get done by today. (Then I went on to tell him the details)
.
.
.
SC: OH IS IT. That's what YOU say. I need to find out from them first. (In a patronising attitude.)

So then I assumed that he wasn't going to.

SC called me back surprisingly.
SC: I checked with them already. HK said it was your fault that you didn't finalise the artwork earlier.
Me: No I finalised with him 2 days ago. He didn't get back to me.
SC: Yeah he said he had to make some adjustments to your design.
Me: Yes he told me that. But he said the same thing to me 3 days ago on Tuesday. I also asked him 3 times whether he could do it by Friday but he didn't get back to me.
SC: Oh, by email or call?
Me: Email
SC: Aiyah next time don't send by email lah! Email do things very slow, and confirm will miss out things. I also tell all my employees to call up the clients to settle details.
Me: But he didn't call me to confirm. He knows that I need it by today and he confirmed last week that he could. So I promised the other side that I can give it to them but now I cannot. How are you going to solve my problem?
SC: But this one he say is your fault. You didn't give him enough time to do it.
Me: I did. I gave it to him on Tuesday
SC: *Cut through, shouting* I DON'T NEED TO KNOW ALL THIS. I ONLY KNOW THAT HE HAS NO TIME TO COMPLETE.
Me: *Wah lau. angry liao, so I shout too.* NO YOU LISTEN TO ME. I gave it to him 3 days ago and he needs more than 2 days to make a small change?
SC: *cuts again* I DON'T KNOW I DON'T WANT TO KNOW ALL THESE IT'S NONE OF MY...
Me: OKAY. YOU LISTEN TO ME!!!!!!! He gotten me into very big trouble how are you going to solve it for me?
SC: How you solve your problem is NONE OF MY BUSINESS!
Me: !??! But he created this problem for me.
SC: So what do you want me to do now? I can print it for you over the weekend, we can compromised a little bit. We can work through today and Saturday to give you no problem.
Me: But my event is Saturday. I won't need it on Monday anymore.
SC: Ok the best I can give it to you is tonight.
Me: But your Hon Kee said today cannot give me, and I couldn't get him anymore after 5pm, so I had to source for someone else so last minute to do and they can do it.
SC: Ok then next time you find them, don't give the job to Hon Kee already.
Me: (thinking. wtf.) So now it's $50 dollars more expensive. How are you going to settle this problem for me?
SC: How you solve this PROBLEM IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS.
Me: But your employee created this problem for me, I need to justify this extra cost.
SC: I DON'T CARE, DON'T EXPECT TO GET ANYTHING OUT OF ME.

*Angry. I hung up.*

Angry or not you tell me?! He called me back but I rejected his call, and when I cooled down enough again I called him again. This time he also cool down already.

I think he thinks that I'm an angmoh kantang so he spoke in Mandarin this time. Cos he got a little confused when I shot back in Mandarin. Complete with a debator's/news anchor PRC twang. And yes if you must know, I perfected this skill to intimidate people. Seriously. Like if some weird China people call me up to tell me I won some freaking $50,000 and need my personal details.

So this time I told him that I need to justfy this cost and he needs to do something about it. Nothing was settled. But in the end he was polite and nice and said that if there was anything else in the future, don't look for Hon Kee, look for him directly, his secretary will settle for him.

BUT I'm still angry. I'm gonna get that $50 back. Someday. I'll make sure his secretary and him remember me for life.

you tell your boyfriend
if he says he's got beef, that i'm a vegetarian and i ain't fucking scared of him.

So I coloured my ahma's hair today! The feeling AFTER colouring my ahma's hair was HIGH. =) I don't know why I feel so happy doing things for her. I guess it's only because i love her. hahahaha. okay mad. anywayz,

Okay some pictures to document this 'event'.

This is the before picture. It looks nice huh. Her usual photos are always shut-eyed or scowling, but i think she was pretty happy that I was gonna colour her hair for her. I've been asking her to dye her hair for the past few weeks cos it was turning snowier and snowier, but she was adament that she wanted to have pure white hair. Then again, a few days ago when my cousin visited and told her that she shld go and dye her hair cos she looked awful (I honestly thought she looks so cute with splotches of brown and white, looks like a cat! Or jo might perceive her as a cow, but wathever. it IS cute right) Then I sense that she wanted to colour her hair but probably too lazy to so I DIY FOR HER hahaha. so exciting. :):):)

This morning I dropped by Guardian to get her hair dye. wah lao. THERE WERE A MILLION bottles of hair dye staring at me, and i had absolutely no idea which brand to get her. The prices ranged between $9 to $25 and well, I am sorta broke and then again I didn't want to buy cheap dye either. Xeven said just get hoyu cos it was just black dye so the price doesn't matter. So okay, Hoyu. Then i had to stare down 4 rows of hairdye boxes because they came in a rainbow of and i wasn't sure what to get. I knew I didnt' wanna get black because it would be too harsh, but then again my grandma was really conservative and hated reds. Then there were so many thousand brown colours to choose from. I finally chose dark mahagony because it was a nice warm colour, which wasn't too red nor too black.

So headed to my grandma's hse, she prepared the place for me to colour her hair already. It was quite funny. I called her up to say I was going over to colour her hair and she kept laughing and insisting that I did not have to do such a thing. But when i went there, she got everything else ready ;P what does that say huh.

1.) The hair dye box i finally picked
2.) the assortment of stuff that came in the box. Can't see the two most impt products in this collage. Oops.
3.) Ahma preparing the space
4.) Before picture
5.) The glove and the bottle and comb
6.) My ahma before washing her hair
7.) I think the glove had a hole. ha. Now my finger is so hot it look's burnt.
8.) AFTER! =)

My ahma with really dark looking hair. I even coloured her eyebrows! =P

Then i rushed home, as i was heading down the stairs i met one of the resident cats of the HDB. It was a hot day, and obviously did not want to be disturbed. Sweet.

HOME. :) woots.

I painted my nails red last night and i think they look so awesome. =) i did mess up quite a bit but it dried up this morning so i peeled them off so it's okay!

sigh. it's a freaking long day. gawd i really need to learn how to stay calm and stop being really angry at people or situations. i just get so angry that i can't think straight and then all i can think of is how angry i am. i seriously have never felt like this so often in my life. everyday i just feel angry and unhappy with everyone.

1.) engine bash video - force me to come back on a bloody freaking sunday to do editing?!
2.) last week i had feelings of betrayal. this week is feelings of being wrongly accused.
im tired and sad. i wish that people stop playing with my feelings.

Today the only thing that cheers me up is the fact that i went to splurge on 4 pretty belts. hah.

look at those shorts! i have been arranging and re-arranging my jeans corner (i have way too many jeans that i do not wear) and i was contemplating their existence and whether or not i shld cut them and make them into shorts, send them for alteration to make them into skinny jeans or rip them to make it look damn cool or to bleach it or even stud the jeans!

the weather in singapore, and the terrains within fass is seriously consider just cutting all my jeans into shorts so that i will have more shorts to wear to school,

but i lack the guts to do. what do you all think?? =P

btw.. if you think this girl is hot, she's a contestant for arts bash 09.

this candy got you spruung

it's been a looooooong time since i've met my jc guitar friends. it was almost like old times and it was pretty joyous. we ate at da paolo pizza bar at merah saga and it was so frigging yummy! we ordered like 5 pizzas and shared it, so it was awesome because i got to 'test' like 5 of the flavours they have. If i'm not wrong, Americana, Funghi, Salamone, Avocado and one more that had an egg smack in the middle of the pizza like a plaster prata. Each 10" pizza costs on average 18-20 dollars so it really aint too bad.

a dead shrew
very interesting how it died just perfectly on the line isn't it? the nose, body and tail aligned to the lines of the pavement. im encouraging you all to click on the picture to enlarge it just to see how a shrew looks like, but honestly, im pretty grossed out by it so at your own risk people.

the strange way the shrew died reminded me of an idea i had for a film some time ago. i wanted to bring across the idea of the invention of space and time. how people invented time in order to encourage efficiency, while people invented roads so that traffic was more orderly, but they forget that they do not exactly always have to walk on the paths drawn by others just beacuse they are so used to it. instead they should just really stop to consider what they really want and not just fit into the 'perfect' mould. gawd i must be feeling so repressed to even want to do a film like that huh. there's really nothing wrong about wanting to be perfect. but who the hell is dictating those values? what the hell does that person know? and how perfect are those people? i can imagine having images of ants triapsing in lines juxtaposed with people just rushing around in the CBD area and just walking all around grass patches and never cutting across those grass patches.

anyway! Love my new blog skin?! it's so awesome! I was supposed to be cleaning up my room and mess today but halfway through it i got really really sian and i decided that hunting for a blogskin with wide entry space would be a much worthwhile cause so here it is. So simple and pretty aint it! =) Although I have some trouble filling in personal mini biographies because I honestly have no idea what to say of myself. I shall take my time to think that through.

Pending work:
1.) Call up/Email Harmonica president to ask him to give us the bloody audi because we booked it already
2.) Workplan nu.st.udios for 09/10 that was due yesterday. shit.
3.) engi.ne bash video due later
4.) go down to supplier to collect goods
5.) call up arts bash pd to ask if can collab (a little too late actually since the bash is on 15 august)
6.) pack my room (it's starting to look like a mini warehouse)
7.) go to DBS to freaking update my address so that i can finally have internet banking
8.) NAF 2010 planning (welcome tea is approaching already..)

i don't know what you think or know, but i seriously feel like a damn sad person. but im trying to keep my spirits up.

live high

Took these photos whilst waiting the O comm briefing at 8am. I wasn't aware of the timing for the briefing, so i happily assumed that it'd be 7am as with the previous day. Alas, it was 8am, and since I had nowhere to be at that point of time, I went around searching for a bench to rest because i was still feeling bloody tired and half asleep. IT WAS NOT EASY looking for a nice bench though! most of the benches were taken up by campers who stayed overnight. So i headed to the deck where i just sat there and waited for 8am to come. Then the light shone in and i thought the shadows looked really pretty! I took shots as the sun slowly inched its way up.

Megathrone - the damn pretty and friendly resident FASS cat. it wasn't too friendly this morning however. but it was still as pretty as ever. =)

Today we need not wear our black O comm shirts, so Alvin, Ade and I wore our yellow tees. hahaha totally betraying our attempt to be most impartial since we were part of the organising committee and had power to dispense power-ups if the orientation group was particularly good. Then someone brought coloured hairspray and it is most awesome!

The day ended with joining Dudley's Og for their HTHT OTOT dinner which was pretty much awesome because of the great company. They are pretty bonded, so that's really good! Hopefully it will last through till sem begins and for the rest of the their NUS life, it would be really pitiful if they didn't because they were too lazy.

Oh and eton was so funny. He found an unopened condom on the floor in the LT. Hormones are raging in this LT man. I feel the heat.
