Most memorable part: 1.) At the beginning when the woman superhero embraced another woman and kissed her. 2.) saw the blue man's peepee. I found it funny cos it was blue. 3.) the part where the girl put a flower into the gun barrel of the soldier and then the soldiers shot at them anyway.
Favourite part: 1.) the sequence right after comedian died where memories are being recollected. it summarised their past quite nicely. 2.) loved the girl wearing wayfarers. hottt... 3.) when the smartest guy in the world was about to be assassinated and how he subdued the guy! 4.) blue man's gazzilion abs 5.) their 'plane' (looks like a bug) 6.) the maskman's awesome changing mask 7.)
Why did i not like it? 1.) Was reminded of better shows that tackled the same issues in a better way like this certain episode in Scrubs and the 5th Element. (YES my favourite shows can...) 2.) Although I understood the woman's predicament, i couldn't figure out whether she liked blueman still or normal man in suit cos it's totally rebound sex. 3.) too much blood and bones till it became quite stupid. 4.) too long. or at least, it's trying to tell too much within the short span of time. even after 2 and half hours it was still not enough for me to actually feel for any characters, or the people they were trying to save. 5.) didn't understand why the girl cried bitterly when she found out that comedian was her father. 6.) existentialist talk about God. 7.) hated the way they depicted people to be passive and waiting for the heroes to sort out their feelings. 8.) hated the way that everyone that wasn't a hero was evil and stupid. sure, they need contrasting characters. but it was not the least bit convincing! 9.) really wanted to see more about the lesbian superhero 10.) hated how the watchmen took matters into their own hands. it's like public lynching in the hands of some screwed up people. 11.) why did smartest guy in the world kill his own teammates? siao. can't he lock them up in his own private prison. or like, sedate them or sth.

take-home message for me: we do not need superheroes who take matters into their own hands. we can legalise them and restrict the amount of power they are allowed to use. otherwise they can be exiled lor.
I read somewhere that this film is more about social commentary than special effects or like action. er.... no. nothing new or insightful. in fact, i felt it was more special effects and action trying to carry the show. so much blood and bones, and people dying that it just felt kind of lame. maybe that's the point of the show then, similar to battle royale.
the stuff that are thought-provoking aren't new though. like,
1.) whether the watch indeed have a watchmaker.
2.) whether if God really exists if he sees all this shit happening and yet choose not to intervene.
3.) how much control should one give to 'heroes' of the society to govern our lives (i.e. police, army, govt). it was really scary to see the comedian and all of those watchmen heroes kill criminals (aren't we all about reformation?), and then making it like it's no big deal. (Death note covered this so much better although the sequel to it was disappointing)
4.) is the world really worth saving when we are the cause of our own destructions, and when we are knowingly harming the environment and taking it for granted? the biggest question they posed about whether humans are worth saving was not answered very satisfactorily in my opinion. 5th element did not really answer it very well, and neither did the day the earth stood still. they tried to use love as a reason why humans are different from other creatures. wait, i think one show answered it very well. i can't rmb the film but it is about how we have the potential to do as many good things as we can do bad. And we aren't just passive people waiting for our environment to destroy us. It is true that there is this huge diffusion of responsibilities (bystander effect) but there are strong characters within the community who are passionate to lead.
5.) when we are so obsessed about fighting crimes, we sometimes forget who the real enemies are.
6.) the public always needs an enemy to unite against. ties that bind are stained with hate and blood.
this superhero story is vastly different from the usual heroes like batman and spiderman. they usually show superheroes that are usually so endlessly good just that sometimes they go astray (or are believed to be). and they can only do the right thing. then it just makes me trust them. but this is so. different. the superheroes are endlessly f-cked up and everything they did were driven by their own personal desires and goals. the only person who could do the right thing because he was above all that was mr Manhattan, but he didn't even have to care about the world because he did not have to live in there anymore. it just goes to show that heroes of one side is not necessarily the hero of the other side, especially when most of the fighting is to perpetuate idealogy and no one is truly evil since it is subjective.
anw, think that watchmen has many connotations in this film, like law enforcers, G-man, fabric of time.. lala anyhow. tired already.
